2008 “Madonna delle Grazie” Brunello di Montalcino
This Brunello Selezione epitomizes the clean, polished and easygoing style of the 2008 vintage. The wine shows a savory side with aromas of cured meat and dried herb, as well as a bold fruit side with plush cherry and blackberry. The acidity is high, but is also balanced out by its natural density and rich texture.

Tannini gentili e in gran parte già risolti e persistenza sottile, piacevole, lunghissima (ITA)
This wine for the first time was awarded ‘three glasses’ by the Gambero Rosso guide and, in my opinion, deserved them all. The color is an intense garnet, a bit more concentrated that the ‘stock’ version. The aromas are very typical, black cherry and violet, with a sharpness that is almost ‘Chianti-esque’, plus a note of wood that has been totally merged into the aromatic spectrum. The attack of the mouthfeel is taut and juicy, with a wonderful acidity that ‘verticalizes’ it and brings us back to the origins of a northern Brunello and vines at a higher altitude. The tannins are gentle and for the most part already settled, while the persistence is subtle, pleasing and very long (ING)
